The Most Ignored But Invaluable Force In Marketing

The First Thing To Do And Know In Your Business!

There is one thing that is often times not defined in network marketing in particular and business in general. And once it’s missed, every aspect of your business/marketing falls apart. Knowing it is the first step in attracting non-stop stream of highly interested prospects to your business.

To attract people to your business opportunity, you must know the answer to this #1 question first…

“What kind of people might be interested in joining your business?”

If you desire to succeed in any business, then you must know who this person is closely plus what they like, or interested in and the problems you can help them solve.

In order to solve their problems, (which is giving them what they wanted) you must know them intimately—that is their needs, pains, desires, hopes etc.
So, it starts with asking and answering these questions:

“WHO Is Your Target Market?”
“What Are Those Things They’re Desperately Looking For, Thinking About And Talking About?”
“What Are Some Of The Problems You Can Help Solve?”

The knowledge of this is the panacea to attracting quality/qualified prospects to you.

But in this article, I’m going to dwell on the first question and subsequently dwell on the other two.

Okay, let’s go…

“WHO Is Your Target Market?”
While this information is meant to teach you how to attract the right people to your network marketing opportunity, you can as well use it to attract prospects to almost any type of product whether in the real estate, travel, consulting, information products, dog beds, postcards, health and wellness, legal services, coaching, financial services, cosmetics, chocolate etc.
The principles are the same no matter WHO you’re attracting or WHAT you’re selling.

Now back to our first question…
Who Is Your Target Market?
Your target market are those people who might be interested in joining your opportunity.
Since our objective is to get people coming to us ready to buy on their own, then we have to know actually who we are selling to.

Let’s make this clear with a practical example:

Consider selling a diabetes product…who do you consider to be your best target market for this product?
They are:
People who have bought diabetes products before as it’s likely they’ll buy similar products again;
Parents with diabetic children;
Target baby boomers.

Like I said before, you need to know their concerns, feelings, what they’re thinking about etc in order to attract them to you. But that would be left for another post. Let’s concentrate today on knowing your target market.

I want to be specific…relating it to your network marketing opportunity.
So, WHO is your target market when you’re selling a network marketing opportunity?
I hope you remember our example with the diabetes product? Relate to your network marketing opportunity and you’ll discover that there are many possible target market to consider.

Here is what I consider the best target market:
People who already know they need a network marketing opportunity before and therefore know why they need it.
It would be more profitable and time saving if you decide to attract people who already know why they need a network marketing opportunity rather than people who don’t know they would need a network marketing opportunity. It’s very clear that the work involve is less if you attract people who already know the need of a network marketing opportunity.

I know the question in your mind is “What kind of person would recognize they need a network marketing opportunity?”
The answer is in the first target market we considered in our diabetes example. That is people who have purchased diabetes products before are good target market because it’s likely they’ll buy a similar product again.

And it’s the same in network marketing.
90% of the work is done if you target this group…that is people who have purchased a network marketing opportunity before.

Okay, let’s consider an instance…
Would you be successful selling suits in the Northern part of Nigeria where 98% of the inhabitants are Moslems or to the Southern part where 98% are Christians? Of course you wouldn’t do well in the north because they don’t have the need. They would not have purchased suits before because they don’t see their need for it.

Network marketing is not different.
But often times we see network marketers cold calling leads or talking to family members and strangers who don’t see the need for a network marketing opportunity. It’s counter productive and outdated to do so. Yes, you can learn to ask the right questions and try to help people discover why they need a network marketing opportunity, but that requires great skills in communication and persuasion…it ultimately creates unnecessary work load. It’s far more effective to do the other way round. You can do this by learning the basic marketing principles that will bring the qualified prospects to you.

Now let’s consider another target market:
Prospects Who Are Already Researching Your Opportunity…
This is a real good niche target market to look at because they’re already familiar with some of the benefits of your company and are in research mode. They might be seeking out the best Upline team to join. They already know why they need a network marketing opportunity which is why they’re researching yours.

Latter we’ll go in details on how you can set things up to attract this group already pre-sold on you or your team as the best upline to help them meet with their goals.
But for now, let’s look at one more possible target market to consider:

Business Opportunity Seekers:
This is another large group of people wanting to make money from home but they don’t know they want to achieve it through network marketing yet. Though this group is not as ideal as the first two groups, they do realized they need a way to make money…and this is closely related to the same needs a network marketing opportunity addresses.

So we covered 3 great target markets you can consider identifying and attracting:
People who have purchased a network marketing opportunity before
People researching your company and seeking the best upline to join.
Business opportunity seekers

Remember our 3 questions?

Who Is Your Target Market?
What Are Those things They’re Desperately Looking For, Thinking About And Talking About?
What Are Some Of The problems You Can Help Solve?

We are done with one. There are 2 more questions you need to answer before I move you onto the next step in this formula.

I welcome your comments on this to give me the clearance for the next article.
